Ratnapura Buddhist Temple is a blessed spiritual monastery dedicated to a virtuous society filled with compassion and wisdom, healing lives with the noble light of Buddhism.
1931 වසරේදී අතිපූජ්ය බිබිලේ ඥානසිරි ස්වාමීන්ද්රයන් වහන්සේගේ සහ අමරණීය ශ්රීමත් අනගාරික ධර්මපාලතුමාණන්ගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් හා මගපෙන්වීමෙන් රත්නපුර බෞද්ධ මන්දිරයේ සදාකාලික අඩිතාලම වැටුණි. එසමයෙහි රත්නපුර ප්රදේශයේ පැවති ආගමික පාසල් පද්ධතියට විකල්පයක් ලෙස, හෙළ බෞද්ධ සාරධර්මවලින් පිරිපුන් පරපුරක් බිහිකිරීමේ අරමුණින් මෙම පින්බිම බිහිවිය.
The eternal foundation of the Ratnapura Buddhist Temple was laid in 1931 under the leadership and guidance of the Most Venerable Bibile Gnanasiri Thero and the immortal Sri Anagarika Dharmapala. This sacred site was established with the aim of creating a generation imbued with Hela Buddhist values as an alternative to the religious school system prevailing in the Ratnapura area at that time.
ආරම්භයේදී මෙහි පහළ මාලය ආගමික වතාවත් සඳහා වෙන් වූ අතර, ඉහළ මාලය “ධර්මපාල විද්යාලය” නමින් සිංහල බෞද්ධ අධ්යාපනයේ කේන්ද්රස්ථානය බවට පත්විය. දශක ගණනාවක් පුරා දහස් සංඛ්යාත දරුවන්ගේ නැණැස පාදා, පසුව රජයට භාර කෙරුණු එම ඓතිහාසික මෙහෙවරේ ශක්තිය අදටත් මෙම බිම තුළ සජීවීව පවතී.
Initially, the lower floor was reserved for religious ceremonies, while the upper floor became the center of Sinhala Buddhist education under the name “Dharmapala Vidyalaya”. The strength of that historic mission, which enlightened the minds of thousands of children over decades and was later handed over to the government, still lives on in this place today.
අද වන විට රත්නපුර බෞද්ධ මධ්යස්ථානය යනු, එම ශ්රේෂ්ඨ ඉතිහාසයේ ආශිර්වාදය පෙරදැරිව, සමාජයීය හා අධ්යාත්මික සුවය සලසන ප්රදේශයේ ප්රධානතම සදහම් නිකේතනයයි.
Today, the Ratnapura Buddhist Center is the region's premier Buddhist sanctuary, providing social and spiritual healing, drawing on the blessings of that great history.
